About San Diego Comic-Con
San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC) is a non-profit multi-genre entertainment and comic book convention held annually in San Diego, California. Originally showcasing primarily comic books and science fiction/fantasy related film, television, and similar popular arts, the convention now includes a larger range of pop culture and entertainment elements across virtually all genres, including horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels.

From Basement to Behemoth
Founded as the Golden State Comic Book Convention in 1970 by Shel Dorf and a group of San Diegans, the first event drew about 300 people. It has since grown into the largest convention of its kind in the Americas, attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees and becoming a vital platform for entertainment industry announcements.
