How to count business days

1

Choose the first date

Set the day the project, processing period, or service window begins.

2

Choose the final date

Set the deadline, delivery date, payment date, or planned finish.

3

Adjust the estimate

Review weekday and weekend totals, then account for relevant closure dates.

What is included

Monday through Friday

The business-day result counts every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the selected range. Saturdays and Sundays appear in a separate total so the complete calendar difference remains easy to verify.

The default uses elapsed boundaries. Turn on the inclusive option when both selected dates belong to the work period. If an included boundary falls on a weekend, it remains a weekend day rather than becoming a business day.

What you should check separately

There is no universal list of non-working days. A national holiday may be observed on a different date, a regional holiday may affect only one location, and a company may operate on a custom schedule.

  • Public and bank holidays in the relevant location
  • Company shutdowns or industry closure days
  • Carrier collection times and service calendars
  • Whether processing begins on the order date or next workday

Business days FAQ

What counts as a business day?

This calculator counts Monday through Friday as business days and Saturday and Sunday as weekend days.

Does the calculator remove public holidays?

No. Holiday rules vary by country, state, region, employer, and year. Check the calendar that applies to your work and subtract those closure dates separately.

Can I include both the first and last workday?

Yes. Select Include both the start and target dates. A boundary date counts only if it is a Monday through Friday.

Can I use the result for a delivery promise?

Use it as a planning estimate, then confirm the carrier or supplier cut-off time, holiday schedule, and whether the first processing day is included.
